Indonesia Targets 3.49 Million Job Creations in 2027

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian parliament has agreed on the government’s job creation target under the State Budget Bill for 2027.
“Job creation [target] ranges from 2.57 million to 3.59 million job opportunities,” said the chair of Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR) Mukhamad Misbakhun in a working meeting on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
The target range was conveyed during a meeting with the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority, BPI Danantara, and Bappenas to establish and conclude the macro assumption figures that will be the reference for State Budget Bill 2027.
Besides the job creation target, the government and DPR agreed that formal jobs must take up 40.81 percent of the total job creation.
The target is part of the development goals and indicators for 2027. The government and the DPR agreed that the poverty rate would be in the range of 6.0-6.5 percent.
Meanwhile, the extreme poverty rate is agreed to be in the range of 0-0.5 percent. This is different from the financial notes of the 2027 State Budget, which targets extreme poverty at 0 percent. “0.05, because if there is still one person who is poor, it means something,” said Misbakhun.
The targeted range of the Gini ratio index, at 0.360-0.365, also differs from the financial notes of the 2027 State Budget at 0.362-0.367.
Furthermore, the government and the DPR agreed on the open unemployment rate in the range of 4.30-4.87 percent. Meanwhile, the human capital index is targeted to reach 0.575.
For the farmers’ welfare index, the government targeted the exchange value for farmers to reach 126-128, while the exchange value for fishers is in the range of 106-110.
The government and the DPR also agreed on the gross national income (GNI) per capita to reach US$5,800-5,840. Meanwhile, in rupiah, it is targeted in the range of Rp98.54-99.22 million.
Finally, the government and the DPR agreed that the environmental quality index could reach 76.84.
On the same occasion, Misbakhun summarized the macro assumptions for Indonesia next year as follows: 1) Economic growth at 6.0 percent; 2) Inflation rate at 2.5 percent; 3) Rupiah exchange rate at Rp17,500/US dollar; 4) SBN bond yield for 10 years at 6.9 percent.
