Indonesia Takes Firm Stance Condemning Israeli Aggression Against Lebanon
Jakarta, Indonesia – A large-scale Israeli military offensive struck Lebanon on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. Local government media reported that the strikes targeted a hotel near Beirut and residential buildings in Baalbek, a region in the eastern part of the country.
The Israeli military stated that the attacks were directed at Hezbollah following the group’s repeated launches of missiles and drones into Israeli territory.
The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israeli airstrikes struck buildings in Baalbek, located far from Lebanon’s southern border with Israel.
On Wednesday morning, the Israeli military issued urgent warnings to residents in 16 towns and villages in southern Lebanon to evacuate the areas immediately before military operations against Hezbollah militants commenced.
Over recent days, Israel has conducted successive airstrikes in southern Lebanon and several suburbs of Beirut that serve as strongholds for Hezbollah’s operations.
However, the NNA reported that some of Wednesday’s strikes also hit areas outside regions that have traditionally served as the group’s bases.
In Aramoun and Saadiyat, two towns south of Beirut, the Lebanese Ministry of Health stated that six people were killed and eight others wounded as a result of Israeli strikes.
World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that three paramedics were among those killed in Lebanon.
Six others were wounded whilst evacuating victims from the explosions.
