Indonesia, Taiwan air accord
TAIPEI (AFX): The Civil Aeronautics Administration with the
Ministry of Transportation and Communications said Taiwan and
Indonesia representatives signed contracts here on the amendment
of their air accord involving expanded routes and flights.
According to the amendments, Taiwan will be allowed to extend
routes to Medan, Manado, Pontianak and Biak, while Indonesia will
have the right to add two US destinations extending from Taiwan,
a statement from the administration said.
The Taiwan-Jakarta route will be allowed to have its flights
increased to 24 beginning March, from the current 20 flights.
The Taiwan-Bali route will be entitled to 17 flights a week.
The route between Taiwan and other Indonesia spots will
increase to 16 flights beginning March from the current 12
flights.
The flights under the "fifth-freedom" provision of the
agreement will be increased to seven from the current two flights
a week, it added.
The amendment also removes the current restriction of two
airlines allowed to operate in each route.
