Indonesia, Sudan sign seven MoUs
JAKARTA: Indonesia and Sudan signed on Tuesday seven memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in an effort to strengthen bilateral relations.
Representatives of the two countries signed the MoUs in the presence of Indonesian Vice President Hamzah Haz and his Sudanese counterpart, Ali Osman Muhammad Taha, at the vice presidential palace here.
The MoUs were on agriculture, research and technology, banking and foreign affairs.
Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hassan Wirayuda said the two countries wanted to boost bilateral cooperation, not only in the form of MoUs but also in action plans.
"We could help (the Sudanese by offering training programs) in agriculture and technology," he said.
The Bosowa cement company will build a new factory in Sudan, Hassan cited. "Indonesia will export the raw materials and they will be processed there."
Meanwhile, in the field of agriculture, Indonesia's Minister of Agriculture, Bungaran Saragih, said the country would send experts to Sudan, while in return Sudan would send farmers to Indonesia.
On foreign affairs, Hassan added, the two countries agreed to engage in continuous consultation.
The Sudanese vice president is here for a four-day visit, which began on Saturday.--Antara
