Indonesia Strongly Condemns Israeli Attack that Killed TNI Peacekeeping Troops in Lebanon
One member of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was killed in an attack in Lebanon. Indonesia has condemned the attack.
“Indonesia strongly condemns the incident and calls for a thorough and transparent investigation,” the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) stated via its X account @Kemlu_RI on Monday (30/3/2026).
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia extends its deepest condolences over the death of the TNI member who was part of UNIFIL. Indonesia reaffirms its condemnation of the Israeli attack in Lebanon.
“Indonesia reiterates its condemnation of the Israeli attack in southern Lebanon and calls on all parties to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon, to cease attacks on civilians and infrastructure, and to return to dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further escalation and advance peace,” Kemlu emphasised.
Kemlu reported that three other TNI members were injured following indirect artillery fire near the position of the Indonesian UNIFIL contingent close to Adchit Al Qusayr on Sunday (29/3) amid reports of hostilities between the Israeli military and armed groups in southern Lebanon.
“We are deeply saddened by this loss. We extend our highest respects to the fallen peacekeeper for his dedication and service to international peace and security. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the bereaved family, and we hope that the injured personnel will recover fully soon,” it said.
Indonesia is cooperating with UNIFIL to ensure the prompt repatriation of the fallen victim and the best medical care for the injured. Kemlu stated that the safety and security of UN peacekeepers must be fully respected at all times, in accordance with international law.
“Any form of threat against peacekeeping forces is unacceptable and undermines collective efforts to maintain peace and stability,” it said.
Kemlu stated that Indonesia remains in close coordination with the UN and relevant authorities and will continue to monitor developments closely.
