The Indonesian government has reinforced its commitment as a global leader in forestry and climate action through active participation in the Forest and Climate Leaders’ Partnership (FCLP) ministerial event in London. Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni stated that Indonesia presented three strategic agendas reflecting its tangible contribution and leadership in global forestry governance.

Firstly, Indonesia is promoting the development of a high-integrity carbon market as a crucial instrument to channel financing for conservation, ecosystem restoration, sustainable forest management, and strengthening the role of communities in forest protection. “The Indonesian government continues to strengthen carbon governance through the refinement of national regulations that provide legal certainty, transparency, and environmental credibility in the forestry sector’s carbon trading,” said Minister Antoni.

Secondly, Indonesia is reinforcing the role of the International Tropical Peatland Center (ITPC) as a global platform for cooperation, scientific development, knowledge exchange, capacity building, and innovation in tropical peatland management. With approximately 13 million hectares of tropical peatland ecosystems, Indonesia possesses significant experience and capacity in managing one of the world’s largest carbon stores, which is also vital for climate resilience and biodiversity. “Indonesia invites FCLP member countries to expand collaboration through the ITPC to accelerate the development of science-based solutions and best practices in tropical peatland management worldwide,” the Minister added.
