Indonesia Stock Exchange Remains Optimistic Despite Slow IPO Activity Ahead of Semester I
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) remains optimistic that its target for companies listing their shares on the capital market through Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) remains on track. For context, the BEI is targeting 50 new issuers for 2026, nearly double the realised figure of 26 issuers from the previous year.
“As of now, we are still in line with our targets. If there are any changes, we will communicate them,” said the President Director of BEI, Jeffrey Hendrik, when met at the BEI building in Jakarta on Monday (18/05/2026).
Jeffrey explained that the decision to undergo an IPO is a strategic move for each individual company. The considerations for undertaking such corporate actions are based on various factors, including market conditions.
“In the current market conditions, there are additional considerations regarding whether an optimal price can be achieved and whether the IPO will be well-absorbed by the market. These are certainly considerations for potential listed companies and their underwriters,” he explained.
However, Jeffrey assessed that the processes for potential issuers are still moving forward. He expressed hope that the schedule remains as planned, stating, “Hopefully, there will be new IPOs.”
Jeffrey emphasised that during the IPO process, the BEI will prioritise quality over quantity to ensure the sustainability of the Indonesian capital market.
“We have all agreed that we will prioritise quality over quantity. I believe that agreement still holds and remains the same,” he revealed.
As of 30 April 2026, one company has been recorded as listing on the BEI, raising funds amounting to IDR 0.30 trillion. Currently, there are 15 companies in the BEI listing pipeline.
