Indonesia Showcases Rumah Gadang Replica at SITEV 2026 in Algeria
Indonesia participated in the SITEV 2026 exhibition in Algeria, showcasing its rich cultural heritage. The Indonesian booth, located centrally within the event, featured a replica of the Rumah Gadang, the traditional house of the Minangkabau people from West Sumatra, as its primary attraction. The booth was further adorned with other cultural ornaments, including Balinese gateways and various batik displays.
Constructed by the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Algiers, the booth attracted significant interest from international visitors. Muhammad Syafri, the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Indonesian Embassy in Algiers, noted that Indonesia participates in SITEV annually. He highlighted that this year’s event coincided with agricultural and pharmaceutical exhibitions, allowing for a larger booth presence. Syafris reported that the public response has been positive, with many visitors enquiring about Indonesian tourism, particularly Bali.
Syafri expressed hope that the exhibition would increase global recognition of Indonesia, thereby fostering the growth of the nation’s tourism sector. He also emphasised the importance of continuous promotion due to the strong historical and diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Algeria. According to the Algerian Embassy’s website, SITEV is a major annual economic meeting that brings together national, regional, and international tourism stakeholders, providing a platform for professionals and experts to exchange expertise and promote tourism services.
