Indonesia is leveraging the INNOPROM 2026 exhibition in Russia to showcase developments in its palm oil industry, including the implementation of B50 biodiesel, and to attract investment into the sector. The participation was facilitated by the Indonesian Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP), which engaged in an international business forum discussing sustainable palm oil financing and biodiesel development.

During the event, BPDP Director of Legal Affairs and Cooperation Pangihutan Siagian emphasised the importance of international partnerships to expand the market for Indonesian palm oil products. “BPDP welcomes this cooperation as an effort to strengthen the position of the Indonesian palm oil industry in the global market,” he said.

BPDP also supported the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) and Russian and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) fat and oil industry associations. The signing took place at the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow and was witnessed by Pangihutan Siagian and Indonesian Ambassador to Russia and Belarus, H.E. Jose Tavares.

Through the INNOPROM forum, Indonesia highlighted the progress of its national palm oil industry, including downstream processing, research and innovation, the implementation of B50 biodiesel, and potential for international investment and cooperation. Pangihutan noted that the collaboration is a significant step towards expanding partnership networks and opening greater market opportunities for Indonesian palm oil products.

“Collaboration between Indonesian businesses and partners in Russia is expected to enhance information exchange, strengthen promotion, and open mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities,” he stated. The MoU serves as a foundation for developing various forms of cooperation, including information exchange, trade promotion, capacity building, industry standard development, and expanding market access for Indonesian palm oil products.

The cooperation aligns with the increasingly close economic relationship between Indonesia and Russia, following the elevation of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership in 2025. Beyond Russia, market expansion opportunities also extend to other member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which are covered under the scope of the signed MoU. BPDP stated that participation in INNOPROM 2026 and support for the MoU signing are part of efforts to expand global partnership networks, strengthen economic diplomacy, and open new market opportunities for sustainable Indonesian palm oil products.
