Indonesia seeks to strengthen defence cooperation with Qatar

The Indonesian Ministry of Defence (Kemhan) is striving to strengthen diplomatic relations and strategic military cooperation with the Government of Qatar.

This effort was evident when the Indonesian Minister of Defence, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, received the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Indonesia, Sultan Bin Mubarak Saad Al-Dosari, at the Indonesian Ministry of Defence Building in Jakarta on Friday.

In a written statement posted on his Instagram account, Sjafrie stated that he discussed various points regarding military cooperation with Sultan Bin Mubarak Saad Al-Dosari. The discussions also included Sjafrie’s intention to visit and meet with the Qatari Minister of Defence.

“The meeting discussed follow-up communications and Indonesia-Qatar defence cooperation, including the delivery of an official letter from the Qatari Government and the planned working visit of the Indonesian Minister of Defence to Qatar,” said Sjafrie.

However, Sjafrie did not explain in detail the specific points of cooperation discussed or the primary objectives of his upcoming meeting with the Qatari Minister of Defence. He expressed hope that through this warm meeting, various defence collaborations between Indonesia and Qatar can be maximally realised.
