Indonesia Secures Rp950 Trillion in Investment, 30 Per Cent Allocated to Downstreaming
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Perkasa Roeslani has announced that Indonesia secured a total of Rp950 trillion in investment during the first semester of 2025. Some 30 per cent, or approximately Rp285 trillion, was directed towards downstreaming programmes.
"I just received the report a few days ago. Of the investment that came in during the second quarter of 2025, or over one semester, the contribution from more than Rp950 trillion, 30 per cent came from downstreaming," he explained at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources office in Jakarta on Tuesday (22 July).
"The contribution from investment in the downstreaming sector has indeed increased quite significantly," Rosan said.
According to the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM report, realised investment in the first quarter of 2025 reached Rp465.2 trillion, representing 24.4 per cent of the established target.
"This is in line with our target. Compared with the previous year, it represents a year-on-year increase of 15.9 per cent," Rosan said.
President Prabowo Subianto has set an investment target of Rp1,905.6 trillion for the full year. Rosan claimed the investment figures demonstrate that investors still view Indonesia's economy very favourably, seeing stability in economic, political, and social terms under President Prabowo's leadership.
He also outlined employment absorption figures. In the first quarter of 2025, the number of jobs created reached 594,104, growing 8.5 per cent from the previous year.
Foreign direct investment (PMA) and domestic investment (PMDN) were well balanced, with PMA at Rp230.4 trillion and PMDN reaching Rp234.8 trillion. Investment placement was similarly balanced between Java and outside Java, with Rp229.3 trillion in Java and Rp235.9 trillion outside Java.
"Singapore still provides the largest contribution. For the past ten years, Singapore has been the biggest investor in Indonesia," Rosan concluded.
