Indonesia routs India 7-1
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia increased its chances of qualifying
for the Asian Championship Finals after thrashing India 7-1 in
their group elimination match in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Fachry Husaini and the team gave a smart reply to critics
following their goalless draw with hosts Malaysia in Saturday's
opening match with a more attacking play against India, reduced
to ten men after 35 minutes.
Indonesia pulled ahead to a comfortable 3-1 lead just before
the break, and kept up the pressure in the second half to
decisively punish the South Asian Games gold medalists.
Malaysia has to win by seven goals in the last group match
today if it is to advance to the finals in Dubai early in
December. (amd)
