Indonesia routs Cambodia 10-0
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia opened up a chance of making an
appearance in the semifinal at the 18th Southeast Asian soccer
competition with a 10-0 rout of lowly Cambodia yesterday.
Smarting from an 1-2 defeat by host Thailand on Monday, the
Indonesians took total control of the Group A match, leaving
their goalkeeper Kurnia Sandy the only idle player throughout 90
minutes of play.
Junior booters, who passed their Italian stint last year,
joined the goal spree, with Ery Irianto scoring four goals and
Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto three. Defender Aples Tecuari, Agung
Setyabudi and Nugroho Indrianto notched up one each.
It was a completely one-sided match as the Indonesians
thrashed Cambodia on its own half without much response to go 4-0
up in the first half. Goals were inevitable after the break.
Earlier in another Group A match, Malaysia beat Vietnam 2-0.
