Indonesia Replaces China on UN Board of Auditors Until 2032

Indonesia is carrying out its mandate as a member of the United Nations Board of Auditors (UNBoA) for the 2026-2032 period through the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), replacing China. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this on Thursday (22/7) following the handover of UNBoA membership at the UN Headquarters in New York, United States. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir accompanied BPK Chair Isma Yatun in receiving the mandate. Arrmanatha stated that Indonesia was elected by acclamation in 2025. He noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the BPK had been conducting diplomacy since 2020 to gather support from UN member states. He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia in New York, will continue to support the BPK in carrying out audit duties of UN bodies throughout the mandate period. The UNBoA is a board comprising three Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) tasked with auditing the financial statements and performance of various UN entities. The board is also responsible for submitting recommendations to the UN General Assembly. Indonesia was elected by acclamation as a member of the UNBoA during the main session of the Fifth Committee of the UN General Assembly on 7 November 2025, for a six-year term beginning in July 2026 and ending in June 2032. The BPK replaces the China National Audit Office as the representative for the Asian region and will work alongside the supreme audit institutions of France and Brazil.
