Jakarta, VIVA – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS), through its Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, Ateng Hartono, reported that Indonesia’s trade balance in February 2026 recorded a surplus of US$1.28 billion, marking a surplus for 70 consecutive months since May 2020. He detailed that the US$1.28 billion surplus in February 2026 was supported by exports reaching US$22.17 billion and imports of US$20.89 billion. “In February 2026, the trade balance of goods showed a surplus of US$1.28 billion, recording a surplus for 70 consecutive months since May 2020,” said Ateng during a press teleconference on Wednesday, 1 April 2026. He explained that the surplus in February 2026 was primarily driven by the non-oil and gas surplus of US$2.19 billion. “The commodities contributing to the non-oil and gas surplus include, first, fats and vegetable and animal oils, followed by mineral fuels or HS27, as well as iron and steel HS72,” he stated. At the same time, Ateng also reported that the trade balance for oil and gas commodities recorded a deficit of US$0.92 billion, with major contributors including crude oil, oil products, and gas commodities. Meanwhile, the cumulative trade balance from January to February 2026 recorded a goods trade surplus of US$2.23 billion up to February 2026. “The surplus from January to February 2026 was mainly supported by the non-oil and gas surplus of US$5.42 billion,” said Ateng. “Meanwhile, the oil and gas commodities recorded a deficit of US$3.19 billion,” he added.
