VIVAnews - The Ministry of Public Housing pointed out that housing backlog for lower middle people up until 2009 reached 7.4 million.

"This year, it might be around 8.4 million, given the estimated rising demand of housing by 800 thousand and our ability to build up to 200 thousand homes per year," said Public Housing Minister, Suharso Monoarfa in Jakarta.

He said again that, "95 percent of housing backlog is dominated by middle class society. It is expected that the increase in people's consumption will lower the backlog," he said.

As reported earlier, The Ministry of Public Housing along the year have absorbed Rp 909.96 billion, or 94.34 percent of the 2010 budget ceiling. In fact, the realized subsidies hit Rp 2.99 trillion, 96.5 percent of the subsidy ceiling.

The ministry allocate Rp 2.76 trillion of definitive ceiling, and an addition of subsidy budget by Rp 4.27 trillion. "The fund will be used to meet the target until 2014," said Suharso.
