Indonesia recorded a monthly deflation of 0.14% in July 2026, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported. The figure defied market expectations, as a consensus of 12 institutions polled by CNBC Indonesia had projected a monthly inflation rate of 0.11%.

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics at BPS, Ateng Hartono, announced the data during a press conference in Jakarta. The calendar year inflation rate was recorded at 1.65%, while the annual inflation rate stood at 2.88%. Core inflation was projected at 2.77% year-on-year.

The deflation in July marks a sharp reversal from the previous month, when the country experienced a monthly inflation rate of 0.44% in June 2026.
