Indonesia reaffirms commitment to Board of Peace success
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto declared his full support for the peace plan initiated by United States President Donald Trump at the inaugural Board of Peace (BoP) summit in Washington DC on Thursday morning local time.
In his statement, President Prabowo said that from the very first day, his side had studied the 20-point plan proposed by President Trump, and Indonesia immediately expressed its agreement and full commitment to its implementation.
“From day one, we studied President Trump’s 20-point plan, we fully agree and we are very committed to this plan, and that is why we joined the Board of Peace. We are committed to its success,” Prabowo said, as quoted from the White House YouTube channel live broadcast, in Jakarta on Thursday.
The President conveyed that implementing the plan would not be easy. Various challenges and obstacles are expected to arise throughout the process.
Nevertheless, President Prabowo expressed optimism that the aspiration for peace would become a reality.
“We know there will be many obstacles. There will be many difficulties, but we are very optimistic that with President Trump’s leadership, this vision of real peace will be achieved. There will be problems, but we will prevail,” he affirmed.
The Head of State added that Indonesia holds great hope for the realisation of peace in Palestine, including in Gaza. He described the achievement of a ceasefire as a tangible step worthy of appreciation.
As a concrete commitment, Prabowo declared Indonesia’s readiness to contribute approximately 8,000 peacekeeping troops to support international peace stabilisation.
President Prabowo attended at the invitation of President Trump. Several other member state leaders were also present, including those from Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Pakistan, Paraguay, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Egypt.
The programme of events comprised an opening by President Trump, presentations by key Board of Peace figures, statements from member state leaders, and concluded with a vote and the adoption of a resolution.
