Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to becoming a global leader in the halal industry through the BSI International Expo 2025. The event was officially opened by Minister of Investment and Head of BKPM, who also serves as CEO of Danantara Indonesia, Rosan P. Roeslani, on Friday (27/6/2025).

In his address, Rosan emphasised that strengthening the Islamic economy and finance is a crucial component of the RPJPN Roadmap for Islamic Economy and Finance 2025–2045, in line with the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision.

He noted that global challenges such as geopolitics, the climate crisis, and technological disruption require Indonesia to identify new sources of growth that are inclusive, sustainable, and resilient — among them the halal ecosystem.

"BSI International Expo 2025 is a strategic step towards propelling Indonesia to the top ranking in the Global Islamic Economy Indicator," Rosan said in a statement on Saturday (27/6).

Currently, Indonesia ranks third in the global halal industry, despite 80 per cent of domestic consumers already being aware of the importance of halal products. However, low halal literacy among business operators and suboptimal harmonisation of certification between countries remain key challenges.

To address this, strengthening the halal ecosystem must be carried out holistically and collaboratively. Danantara Indonesia, together with Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), is championing a spirit of innovation and cross-sector collaboration to position the halal industry as a mainstream force, rather than merely an alternative.
