Indonesia has been ranked seventh in the world for cryptocurrency adoption in 2025. Amid a year-on-year transaction surge reaching 103 per cent, the strengthening of security systems, compliance, and risk supervision has become a key challenge for the national crypto industry. The Chainalysis Global Crypto Adoption Index 2025 also shows Indonesia is the fourth-largest crypto asset market in Asia by transaction value received.

ASEAN Regional Director at Chainalysis Diederik Van Wersch believes the rapid industry growth must be balanced with stronger compliance and risk supervision systems. “Indonesia is one of the fastest-growing crypto markets in Southeast Asia. This growth needs to be balanced with increasingly robust compliance and risk monitoring systems. The support of AI technology and blockchain data analytics allows potential risks to be identified in real-time so they can be handled more quickly and accurately,” Diederik stated.

Rising supervisory standards in the global crypto asset industry are pushing market players to strengthen governance and user protection. This step is considered vital as Indonesia’s crypto ecosystem becomes more connected with global markets. One such effort is being undertaken by Indodax through a partnership with Chainalysis. By implementing the Chainalysis Crypto Compliance solution, the company is strengthening real-time on-chain activity monitoring to identify, analyse, and mitigate potential risks.

Indodax CEO William Sutanto said the collaboration is a strategic step to ensure Indodax remains at the forefront of applying security and compliance standards amidst the industry’s growing complexity. “Our collaboration with Chainalysis is a strategic move to ensure Indodax remains at the forefront in applying security and compliance standards amidst an increasingly complex crypto industry,” William said.

William stated that strengthening compliance infrastructure is an important foundation for creating a healthier and more sustainable crypto asset industry. “User trust is the main foundation in this industry. We believe that healthy and sustainable crypto industry growth must be built on transparency, good governance, and strong long-term risk management,” William continued. Through the partnership, Indodax is targeting improved operational compliance efficiency, faster internal investigations, and stronger mitigation of suspicious activity on the blockchain network.

Diederik said strengthening compliance and risk supervision is an essential requirement to maintain public trust in the digital asset industry. “We see Indodax demonstrating a strong commitment to building that foundation and are proud to support it through our technology and expertise to help create a safer and more transparent ecosystem,” Diederik said. The utilisation of blockchain intelligence technology used by various global institutions is expected to increase the effectiveness of transaction monitoring while strengthening user protection, in line with the development of international regulatory standards.
