Indonesia rallies to beat Malaysia
FUKUOKA, Japan (Agencies): Indonesia survived a tough battle against Malaysia before winning 4-15, 15-5, 11-15, 15-5, 16-14 and raising its win-loss record to 2-1 at the Asian Pacific Cup men's volleyball tournament yesterday.
In a contrasting style, defending champion Japan eased through a challenge from Vietnam with a three-set victory to remain unbeaten. With a 15-1, 15-11, 15-11 win, the Japanese spikers took another step toward their fifth straight cup.
Thailand, which finished as runner-up last year, also scored a third straight win, beating the Philippines 15-8, 15-3, 15-11. The Philippines fell a 1-2 record, above winless Malaysia and Vietnam in the six-team round robin competition.
