Jakarta (ANTARA) – Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening multilateral development cooperation by mobilising private capital, accelerating the implementation of development programmes and adopting financing policies suited to countries’ needs and capacities.

At the 57th Joint Governors Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, Suahasil underscored the World Bank Group’s role in promoting productive investment and creating quality jobs.

“For Indonesia, the priorities are clear: financing that attracts productive investment, implementation that delivers quality jobs, and partnerships that continue to evolve in line with countries’ needs,” Suahasil said, according to a press statement issued in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He outlined three main priorities for strengthening international development cooperation.

First, Indonesia wants to mobilise private capital by providing affordable financing to support productive investment.

Second, it seeks to speed up the approval and implementation of development programmes by strengthening cooperation with the World Bank Group.

Third, it advocates a graduation policy, or transition in eligibility for financing support, that continues to take country ownership and the continuity of development support into account.

Beyond financing, Suahasil also highlighted the importance of responding to climate change and natural disasters as part of the development cooperation agenda.

Climate action and crisis preparedness, he said, should be designed in practical ways that take into account the circumstances and needs of each country.

Indonesia supports the implementation of the Paris Agreement and climate adaptation efforts aligned with stronger energy resilience, affordability, economic competitiveness and fiscal sustainability.
