Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Turchin on Friday, May 15, 2026, in Minsk, Belarus. The meeting discussed strengthening trade and economic cooperation, as well as expanding partnerships in various priority sectors.

Airlangga warmly welcomed the planned state visit of President Alexander Lukashenko to Indonesia in early July 2026. “Indonesia is also ready to welcome a business delegation from Belarus to Indonesia as part of the Belarusian president’s visit,” he said in a written statement on Friday, May 15, 2026.

He said that preparations for the visit are underway, including finalizing several important matters that are expected to be completed during the visit, especially the Roadmap for Cooperation between Belarus and Indonesia.

According to Airlangga, Belarus holds a significant position in supporting Indonesia’s industrialization agenda, food security, and market diversification. Belarus has a strong industrial manufacturing base, with the manufacturing sector contributing approximately 20.3 percent to the national GDP in 2024.

Airlangga said that Belarus has advantages in the development of agro-industry and agricultural mechanization, which supports national food security, including a food self-sufficiency rate of around 96 percent. With Belarus’s experience and expertise in agricultural technology, this cooperation is expected to improve the modernization of Indonesia’s agricultural sector and accelerate the achievement of national food security.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Turchin, expressed Belarus’s commitment to continuing to strengthen economic partnerships with Indonesia and also support the opening of the Indonesian Embassy in Minsk, in order to facilitate relations between the two countries.

Both countries also discussed the Indonesia-EAEU Free Trade Agreement (I-EAEU FTA), which was successfully signed on December 21, 2025, in St. Petersburg.

Indonesia believes that the agreement reflects a shared commitment to continue strengthening economic cooperation and promoting open, inclusive, and mutually beneficial trade partnerships.
