Indonesia postpones D-8 summit due to US-Israel and Iran conflict

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the D-8 Summit 2026 to be held in Jakarta has been postponed until further notice owing to the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

The announcement was made by Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yvonne Mewengkang during a press briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026. The decision reflects the ministry’s assessment of the current geopolitical situation and its implications for the summit’s implementation.

Acting Director of Indonesian Citizens Protection (PWNI) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heni Hamidah, along with Director of Information and Media Hartyo Harkomoyo, also provided statements during the press briefing, underscoring the ministry’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of participants and attendees of the summit.

The postponement decision demonstrates Indonesia’s prudent approach to hosting international conferences amid heightened regional tensions in the Middle East.
