Indonesia plans revenue boost through Sultan Hotel asset management

Speaking at a parliamentary hearing, Prasetyo confirmed coordination with the state investment body BPI Danantara to redesign the site’s use.

He reported the asset was formally reclaimed on 18 June 2026, ending an eight‑year legal battle.

“The court declared the Sultan Hotel belongs to the state, with third‑party management concluded,” he told lawmakers.

He added that the eviction process is ongoing and expected to take one month before the property is handed to Danantara.

Separately, BPI Danantara head Rosan Roeslani said revitalizing the Gelora Bung Karno complex aims to raise foreign tourist spending, currently averaging about US$1,100 per visit.

“We remain far behind Thailand and Singapore in tourism competitiveness,” Rosan noted, stressing the need for diversified strategies from mass tourism to high‑value niche markets.
