RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia and the Philippines are strengthening economic cooperation through the launch of the Indonesia-Philippines Business Association (IPBA) in Cebu, the Phillipines.

Indonesian Trade Minister Budi Santoso described the initiative as a new chapter in expanding trade, investment, and business partnerships built on 75 years of bilateral relations.

“We hope IPBA will become a strategic gateway for business players from both countries to encourage stronger trade, investment, and business partnerships,” Minister Budi said in a statement issued in Jakarta on Saturday, May 9, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The association’s establishment was initiated by Indonesia’s Trade Attache in Manila in mid-2024. According to Minister Budi, IPBA is expected to expand business networks and maximize bilateral trade cooperation to increase total trade flows between the two countries.

The minister said the association would also help advocate for businesses facing trade barriers to ensure smoother commercial exchanges. “Trade diversification will make us more resilient in facing global challenges,” he said.

IPBA will support the promotion of Indonesian products through trade missions, business forums, and business matching activities connecting companies with potential Philippine buyers, distributors, importers, and investors.

The Philippines is one of Indonesia’s key trading partners and ranked as the eighth-largest destination for Indonesian exports in 2025, with export value reaching USD 10.22 billion.

Indonesia is also the fourth-largest supplier of imports to the Philippines. Products with strong market potential in the Philippine market include metal products, metal ore concentrates, and vegetable oils. ***
