The Indonesian government is promoting the energy transition, including the development of Solar Power Plants (PLTS). This aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive targeting the construction of 100 GW of PLTS by 2029.

Secretary of the Directorate General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Wanhar Abdurrahim, stated that the 100 GW PLTS development not only aims to reduce emissions but also responds to the surge in electricity needs from the digital sector. Particularly data centres, which are projected to grow by up to 20% annually in the ASEAN region.

“The Indonesian government is accelerating the energy transition by opening vast green investment opportunities. Our main focus is achieving the 100 GW PLTS development target as the primary pillar of the national energy mix,” he said at the launch of Enlit Asia-Electricity Connect 2026 at the PLN Head Office in Jakarta on Friday (17/4/2026).

To this end, the government is committed to creating a conducive investment climate through consistent policies to ensure the availability of competitive clean energy for future industries. This includes addressing the rapidly growing electricity needs of the data centre sector in the country.

“Through Enlit Asia-Electricity Connect 2026, we invite all stakeholders to collaborate in addressing the expansive electricity needs of the data centre sector through consistent and innovative policies,” Wanhar added.

Enlit Asia-Electricity Connect 2026 reaffirms Indonesia’s commitment to building a reliable, affordable, sustainable electricity system ready for the future, while driving innovation, investment, and long-term energy independence.

Enlit Asia is the leading annual event for the ASEAN electricity sector, attracting over 11,000 participants and 280 exhibitors from various countries. The event brings together policymakers, utilities, industry players, technology providers, and innovators to discuss the latest developments, share insights, and shape the future direction of the region’s energy.

Meanwhile, Electricity Connect, an annual event by the Indonesian Electrical Engineering Association (MKI) and previously known as National Electricity Day before 2024, is present to strengthen Indonesia’s electricity infrastructure as the backbone of economic growth and environmental responsibility.

Registration is now open for exhibitors, sponsors, and participants.

CEO of Clarion Events Asia, Richard Ireland, said registration for exhibitors, sponsors, and official participants opened on 17 April 2026.

“With a target of 11,000 participants and 280 global exhibitors, this event is not just an exhibition but a hub for energy technology and investment transactions,” he stated.

“We invite all stakeholders to actively participate in building real collaborations towards a more resilient and sustainable ASEAN energy system,” he added.
