Indonesia Open 2026 to Become a People’s Festival with More Affordable Tickets
The Indonesia Open 2026 tournament, running from 2-7 June, will not only showcase world-class badminton competition at Istora Gelora Bung Karno in Senayan. The organising committee is also targeting broader public participation with affordable ticket prices starting at Rp40,000. This policy is part of making the BWF World Tour Super 1000 event a badminton festival accessible to all segments of society. The move has received positive feedback from fans, reflected in high ticket sales ahead of the tournament. Organising Committee Chairman Achmad Budiharto revealed that over 76% of online ticket quotas had been sold by the end of May. However, the public can still purchase limited tickets directly at Istora during the tournament. In addition to affordable pricing, the committee aims to offer a new experience for spectators through a blend of sports, entertainment, and technology. “This year’s Indonesia Open is not just a world-class badminton competition but also a sports entertainment experience closer to the public. We are incorporating technology both inside and outside the arena to deliver a more interactive and memorable experience for spectators,” said Budiharto. He added that the concept is designed to broaden the event’s appeal, making it a destination not only for badminton enthusiasts but also for the general public seeking family-friendly entertainment. Relatively affordable ticket prices also enable the public to watch world-class badminton stars up close. Support from Polytron as the main sponsor has also strengthened this year’s event concept. The involvement of this national company is expected to bring various innovations that make the competition atmosphere more modern and relevant to the evolving sportainment industry. Celebrations will extend beyond the arena, with non-ticket holders able to enjoy various activities and entertainment organised by the committee in the surrounding areas. Polytron’s General Manager of Corporate Communications, Diantika, stated that the areas outside Istora will be open to the public and feature diverse entertainment activities, including live music concerts. “The areas outside Istora are open to everyone; anyone can enter, so families can gather there. Those not watching the matches inside can still enjoy the entertainment outside Istora,” said Diantika. The concept is expected to create a more inclusive atmosphere, transforming the Indonesia Open into not just a sporting event but a communal space for the public.
