Indonesia One Data Bill threatens attacks on SDI infrastructure with 15-year prison sentences
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Draft Law on Indonesia One Data (RUU SDI) stipulates a maximum prison sentence of 15 years for parties involved in attacks, sabotage, manipulation, or the destruction of SDI infrastructure.
During a meeting at the DPR Building in Jakarta on Monday, Martin Manurument, Chairman of the Drafting and Synchronisation Team (Timus Timsin) for the RUU SDI, explained that these provisions are contained in Article 133 of the bill, which has been refined by the team.
“Article 133 relates to attacks, sabotage, manipulation, destruction, unauthorised dissemination, or the takeover of the national data centre, SDI interoperability technical infrastructure, or SDI system infrastructure, which are punishable by a maximum of 15 years imprisonment or a fine of up to category VIII,” he stated.
In addition to these criminal threats, the RUU SDI also stipulates an increase in criminal penalties by one-third for state officials or government administration apparatus who commit such offences.
Furthermore, Article 135 regulates criminal provisions for corporations and corporate management who commit violations as stipulated in the criminal provisions of the RUU SDI.
He added that the refinement of the draft was carried out through technical improvements in accordance with Indonesian linguistic rules and legislative drafting techniques, as well as adjustments to the order and numbering of articles and the alignment of terminology.
Based on the results of the refinement by the Timus Timsin, the RUU SDI consists of 20 chapters and 142 articles, including their explanations.
