The Legislation Committee (Baleg) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) aims to pass the Draft Law (RUU) on One Data Indonesia into law during the nearest plenary session, scheduled for next week. Discussions regarding the bill are set to be accelerated throughout this week.

“The second-level discussion and decision-making process for the approval of the One Data Indonesia Bill as law is scheduled for the next plenary session. This means it is likely to occur next Tuesday (2/9),” stated Bob during the discussion meeting for the One Data Indonesia Bill with the government at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (24/9/2024).

Bob estimated that the discussion of this bill will take place from Wednesday (24/9) through Friday (26/9). This will be followed by the finalisation stage and plenary meetings on Monday (29/9).

“So, if it is next Tuesday, we only have time on Thursday and Friday. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. If we finish by Friday, then it is done. I have heard there are many DIMs (List of Issues to be Discussed) from the government. Therefore, it is possible to finish by Friday, and on Monday, we will complete the process up to the plenary session,” Bob added.

During the meeting, it was also determined that the Chairman of the Working Group (Panja) for the One Data Indonesia Bill is the Vice Chairman of the Legislation Committee, Sturman Panjaitan. The Committee has also received the names of working group members from each DPR faction.

“We also announce that the chairman of the working group for the discussion of the One Data Indonesia Bill is Major General Marine Sturman Panjaitan,” he said.

The Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, who attended the meeting, stated that the government is prepared to proceed with the discussions to ensure the One Data Indonesia Bill can soon become law.

“In essence, we are ready to continue so that this bill can be prepared to become law as soon as possible,” said Rachmat.

The One Data Indonesia Bill has been agreed upon as a DPR initiative. This agreement was reached during the plenary session on Tuesday (23/7).
