Indonesia offers heavy equipment electrification to Belarus
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has stated that Indonesia is offering heavy equipment electrification to Belarus, given that the country is a major producer of heavy machinery. “One of the things we can promote is, if they want to electrify heavy equipment, they can use battery storage from Indonesia,” Airlangga said in Jakarta on Tuesday, after attending the Indonesia-Belarus Business Forum and Business Matching. Airlangga noted that Belarus is one of the large heavy equipment producers among the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) that has established cooperation with Indonesia. According to him, heavy equipment production in Belarus averages around 200 tonnes, whereas in Indonesia it can only accommodate an average of around 100 tonnes. “If we cooperate, we are encouraging mining equipment to use electricity. And that is in line with the downstreaming development of Indonesian nickel, as well as reducing the need for carbon, diesel, and petrol,” he said. Meanwhile, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich said that relations between Belarus and Indonesia continue to show improvement, particularly in business. He noted that several documents had been signed which would have implications for enhancing economic relations. “Relations between our countries and Indonesia have improved, and today’s forum shows that the potential for cooperation is very large. We also signed several documents that will enhance economic relations,” he added.
