Indonesia Offers Condolences Over Venezuela Earthquake
The Indonesian government has conveyed its deepest condolences to the government and people of Venezuela over the earthquake that struck the country on 24 June 2026. “We also extend our condolences to the families of the victims and all communities affected by this tragedy,” said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs via a post on X, Saturday (27/6). The Indonesian government also expressed solidarity with Venezuela as it faces the disaster. “We are confident that the people of Venezuela have the strength and resilience to rise and recover,” the ministry wrote. Twin earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 shook Venezuela’s northern coastal region on Wednesday evening, recorded as the strongest quakes in the country in more than 125 years. The areas of La Guaira and Caracas suffered the most severe infrastructure damage. Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodríguez has declared a national state of emergency. On Friday afternoon, a magnitude 4.9 aftershock again shook Caracas and Maracay amid the victim evacuation process. Meanwhile, international aid has begun to arrive, including a rapid response from the United States and offers of humanitarian assistance from various partner nations.
