Indonesia Named Host of the International Jetsport World Series 2026

Indonesia has again been trusted to host an international sporting championship. This time, the event is the Indonesia International Jetsport World Series 2026, a water-sport competition. It is planned to be staged at Ancol, Jakarta, in August 2026. An estimated 300 athletes from around 40 countries are expected to participate in this world-class jetski championship. This certainty was outlined by Syaiful Sutan Aswar, chairman of the Indonesia Jetsport Boating Association (IJBA), together with Eka Nugraha Manurung, Director of Limasatu Kreatif Indonesia, during a meeting with Ismail Ning, Vice-Chairman of the Indonesian National Olympic Committee (KOI), at the NOC Indonesia office in Jakarta on Wednesday 4 March 2026. Syaiful Sutan Aswar said the event would not only focus on elite sport but also serve as a moment to promote Indonesia to the world. ‘This is not just about attracting athletes, but about attracting the world to come to Indonesia. We want people to come because they genuinely want to come to Indonesia,’ Syaiful said in IJBA’s statement, on Thursday 5 March 2026. Through the event, Syaiful said IJBA aims to build a long-term reputation and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the international competition calendar. IJBA also targets the event as a moment for nurturing national youth athletes. Meanwhile, Eka Nugraha Manurung emphasised that the event is not only designed as a sporting competition but as a strategic platform uniting sport, tourism, and the creative economy. ‘We want to make Indonesia a centre of excellence for jetsport in Asia, particularly Southeast Asia, and a world-class sport tourism destination,’ Eka said. ‘We want the world to see that Indonesia is capable of hosting jetsport events on a global scale with high professionalism,’ he added. To date, IJBA continues to ensure the readiness of the physical infrastructure in Ancol as the main venue for the competition.
