Indonesia Must Lead the World in Saving Gaza

Since the ceasefire agreement in early 2026, mass killings or genocide against the people of Gaza, Palestine, have continued daily. This was stated by the Presidium Chairman of the Islamic Mass Organisation Assembly (MOI), KH Nazar Haris, during a Palestine Solidarity Action themed ‘Gaza for Israel, If We Remain Silent’, near the Horse Statue, Monas, Jakarta, Sunday (26/7/2026).

Kiai Nazar explained that a movement called #TheyLiedToYou was initiated about three weeks ago, meaning the colonisers are lying about the genocide still occurring despite the ceasefire. He added that proof of the colonisers’ lies is their desire for the administrative government in Gaza to be handed over, but not to the rightful authorities. “The colonisers want this and that, and the most terrifying thing is actually the border crossing not being opened and the Gaza territory being reduced to just 33 percent,” he added.

Furthermore, over 1.9 million Gazans, or approximately 2 million people, are living in an area measuring just 32 kilometres by 3 kilometres. Kiai Nazar warned that with Israel’s military capabilities, these 2 million people could be wiped out within one to two hours if the colonisers wished it. “So, with these conditions, Indonesia must be at the forefront, mobilising the international community or the world’s people to save Gaza,” he stressed.

He also noted that during the recently concluded 2026 World Cup, there was a global awareness among citizens supporting Palestine. “Regardless of our views on the World Cup’s execution, it turns out the emotional atmosphere in support of Palestine was present during the 2026 World Cup,” he said. Additionally, the arrest of a Palestinian citizen visiting Indonesia, Abdul Karim Raed Miqdad, on 16 July 2026, has created an extraordinary emotional situation that must be channelled into positive energy. “With this action, we hope this emotional situation becomes positive energy that will make the public and the government join hands, as they have been committed to supporting Palestine from the start,” concluded Kiai Nazar.

As is known, President Prabowo Subianto on 23 July reaffirmed his support for the Palestinian independence struggle, stating it is a non-negotiable principle.
