Indonesia Meets Dubai Financial Centre Management to Gather Input for PFII
Indonesian Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa and officials from the Ministry of Finance recently met with representatives from the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The meeting was held to gather input regarding the government’s plan to establish the Pusat Financial Internasional Indonesia (PFII), according to the Director General of Financial Sector Stability and Development at the Ministry of Finance, Herman Saheruddin. “Yesterday we met with the Dubai financial centre team. We listened to their input,” Herman said when met by journalists after a working committee meeting on the PFII Bill with Commission XI of the House of Representatives on Tuesday (14/7/2026). The discussions with the DIFC are set to continue, with the Finance Minister scheduled to hear from a former CEO of the DIFC. Herman noted that substantial feedback was provided, covering aspects such as the precise form the financial centre should take and the level of detail required in decision-making. “There was a lot of input, such as how to be more meticulous and what form the financial centre should take, because not all are fully-fledged financial centres; some are merely hubs,” he explained. Herman added that the engagement with the DIFC is part of the government’s effort to seek broad input to ensure the bill and the formation of the PFII proceed smoothly without issues. “This meeting aims to provide us with input, because we need meaningful participation. We listen to everyone, including the DIFC,” he clarified.
