Indonesia may just
Indonesia may just
become history
From Rakyat Merdeka
I feel hurt to see that some big-wig corruptors remain legally
untouched. They have committed wrong, abused their power for
money, position and robbed the country of its wealth by using
various cunning tricks.
It is their immoral conduct that has caused our country to
fall into the abyss of debt. If this condition remains unsolved
and is not correctly handled, it is likely that Indonesia will
just become history.
In the face of such a reality, although I am not a law expert,
I, for the sake of my deep love for the country, would like to
call on President Megawati Soekarnoputri to implement her
political policies sternly and courageously to uphold the
supremacy of the law.
For the sake of social justice in the country, law enforcers
should act fairly and heed the adage saying that only clean
brooms sweep things clean.
Based on this saying, all delinquent judges, prosecutors and
police personnel should be fired or pensioned off. Let them be
replaced by those who resort to justice and truth as their only
motivation in upholding the country's law, like our former
general attorney, the late Baharuddin Lopa. Only then can our
country gradually emerge from the multi-faceted crisis.
