Indonesia Maps Japanese Industry Needs to Expand Job Opportunities

The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is mapping the needs of Japanese industries in an effort to align the preparation of Indonesian workers with the demands of the business sector in that country. Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor stated that Japan still offers significant opportunities for Indonesian workers, particularly in the automotive, construction, agriculture, and caregiving sectors, as well as other fields requiring skilled labour. “We must prepare Indonesian workers for job opportunities in Japan by ensuring their competencies match industry needs,” he said in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday. During a meeting with the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, training institutions, and Japanese companies, the Deputy Minister stressed the need for training that closely simulates actual working conditions in Japanese firms. He also noted that preparation must go beyond technical skills to include language ability, understanding of work culture, and adaptability. The ministry further recorded that Japanese language proficiency is a crucial factor in supporting the readiness of Indonesian workers. Consequently, the training provided must cover not only daily conversational skills but also technical language used in the workplace, including safety terminology and operational communication.
