Indonesia, Malaysia to boost trade, investment ties

Indonesia and Malaysia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of a joint committee as an effort to increase two-way trade and investment.

Addressing at the MoU signing of the Joint Trade and Investment Committee (ITIC) on January 11, Indonesia’s President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono stressed that the two countries can conduct economic cooperation in more efficient ways to achieve their set targets.

Malaysia is now Indonesia’s 10th largest trade partner, ranking 2nd among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.

Two-way trade turnover between Indonesia and Malaysia in the first 11 months of 2007 reached 10 billion USD.
