“This visit serves as a strategic momentum to deepen collaboration in the management and accountability of state finances, while encouraging knowledge exchange and best practices among audit institutions,” Head of Public Relations and International Cooperation Bureau Teguh Widodo said in a statement here on Monday.

During the visit, Yatun conducted a courtesy call with SAO Laos President Viengthavisone Thephachanh to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation, capacity building through knowledge transfer, and a shared commitment to enhancing the role of Supreme Audit Institutions in promoting good governance at both regional and global levels.

She also met with President of the State Inspection Authority Laos Vanhxay Phongsavanh to strengthen coordination, information exchange, and institutional capacity development supporting anti-corruption efforts, while respecting the mandates and legal frameworks of each institution.

In addition to leadership-level meetings, BPK and SAO held a bilateral seminar on “Mechanisms for Accessing Financial Information of Central and Local Government.”

BPK presented its mechanisms for accessing central and regional government financial information as a foundation for conducting independent, transparent, and high-quality audits.

“Through this visit, BPK hopes bilateral cooperation with SAO will develop concretely and sustainably, supporting stronger governance and financial accountability both domestically and across ASEAN,” Widodo said.

On the sidelines of the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur on May 26, 2025, President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Lao Sonexay Siphandone.

Prabowo also expressed Indonesia’s readiness to collaborate in potential sectors such as minerals, agriculture, and fertilizers.

On regional security issues, he highlighted the importance of joint efforts against transnational crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and online fraud and gambling.
