Indonesia Initiates Southeast Asia Fertiliser Producers Association
PT Pupuk Indonesia, together with Petronas Chemicals Group Berhad and Brunei Fertilizer Industries, has officially formed the Southeast Asia Fertilizer Association (SEAFA). The association was formally declared as part of the Argus Fertilizer Asia Conference on Wednesday (1/4/2026), with the aim of promoting cooperation among fertiliser producers in ASEAN to safeguard regional food security, while also bolstering the global role of Southeast Asia’s fertiliser industry. “We took the initiative first, discussing it with Brunei and Malaysia before reaching an agreement,” said Pupuk Indonesia’s CEO Rahmad Pribadi on the sidelines of the Asia Fertilizer Conference 2026 in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali, on Wednesday (1/3/2026). The declaration of the association’s formation was marked by a signing ceremony by Rahmad, along with BFI CEO Harri Kiiski and a representative from Petronas Chemicals Group Berhad, Bahrin bin Asmawi. The signing took place in front of around 200 participants from the Asia fertiliser forum representing 30 countries. “This is about sharing responsibilities; food security cannot be handled by a single company alone, but on a regional and global scale,” Rahmad stated. Rahmad revealed that the number of founding countries for the association has the potential to increase.
