Indonesia-India Ties Strengthening a Positive Signal for Empowerment: Coordinating Minister
Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar has stated that India holds strategic market value for the Indonesian economy. Speaking in Jakarta on Wednesday, he noted that the strengthening of bilateral relations will increase opportunities for community products to enter the international market. “This is not just about trade between nations, but also about opening a wider space for the people’s economy to develop,” he said on the sidelines of a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. According to Muhaimin, India is a strategic partner with a massive market, supported by a population of over one billion and steadily increasing economic growth. This condition, he said, opens wider opportunities for Indonesian products, investment, and talent to enter the global market. He added that the economic diplomacy built by President Prabowo must be translated into direct benefits for the community through expanded market access, increased investment, job creation, and strengthened human resource capacity. “When the government succeeds in opening access to the global market, the next task is to ensure that the community can take advantage of these opportunities. This is the meaning of empowerment: providing greater opportunities for the people to grow, move up, and improve their welfare,” Muhaimin said. He concluded that strengthening relations with India is a strategic step to expand economic opportunities, increase national competitiveness, and accelerate community empowerment towards more equitable prosperity.
