Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Hot weather and an increasingly dry season have made air conditioners one of the most sought-after household appliances. The good news is that the public can obtain air conditioners at lower prices during the Transmart Full Day Sale on Sunday, 16 August 2026.

In today’s promotion, Transmart is offering a 1 PK split air conditioner at a sale price of Rp4,051,200. That price is down from the listed normal price of Rp5,759,000 and the initial promotional price of Rp5,019,000.

This promotion is part of the Transmart Full Day Sale, which offers discounts of up to 50% plus an additional 20% on a range of products at all Transmart outlets across Indonesia.

The Transmart Full Day Sale runs only on Sunday, 16 August 2026, from store opening until 10.00 pm Western Indonesia Time. The promotion applies not only to electronics but also to various public needs, ranging from groceries, fresh produce and clothing to other household necessities.

The additional 20% discount applies to customers using Bank Mega credit cards, Bank Mega Syariah, Allo Prime and Allo Paylater with a minimum transaction of Rp300,000. The promotion does not apply to Mega Corporate cards, Mega Groserindo or Mega Wholesale.

For certain electronic products, Transmart has also set purchase limits. Specifically for televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners and washing machines, customers may buy a maximum of two units for each category per card or account in one day.

The promotion does not apply to IT products, laptops, gadgets or items marked “Tidak berlaku Promo FDS”.

BMKG Reveals Threat of Heat and Dry Season

The air conditioner promotion comes as Indonesia faces an increasingly dry season. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has confirmed El Niño conditions with very strong intensity.

In its Atmospheric Dynamics Analysis for the first ten days of August 2026, BMKG recorded the SSTA index in the Nino 3.4 region at +2.77, up from +2.20 in July 2026. A value above +2°C indicates that El Niño is in the strong category.

At the same time, the Indian Ocean Dipole index is also in a positive phase at +0.457, up from +0.242 in July 2026. These conditions have contributed to reduced rainfall across Indonesia.

“BMKG predicts that El Niño 2026 will persist until early 2027. The IOD is likely to remain in a positive phase at least until the end of 2026,” BMKG wrote.

The combination of these two conditions means the dry season in Indonesia is expected to be drier than normal. In fact, low-category rainfall of below 50 mm per ten-day period is predicted to dominate 95.62% of Indonesia’s territory during the second ten days of August 2026.

Hot conditions are also beginning to be felt in several regions. BMKG recorded a daily maximum temperature of 36.4°C at Stamet Mutiara Sis-Al Jufri, followed by 36.2°C at Stageof Lampung Utara and 36.1°C at Stamet Kalimaru.

BMKG also noted that several regions have experienced long periods without rain. The longest dry spell reached 100 days at the BPP Pajangan rain post in Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

In response to these conditions, BMKG has urged the public to anticipate the impacts of hot weather and drier air, including maintaining adequate fluid intake and using protection from sun exposure.

With the dry season predicted to continue, hunting for a discounted air conditioner in this weekend’s promotion could be one option for people wanting to prepare their homes for the hot weather.

The Transmart Full Day Sale itself lasts only one day, namely Sunday, 16 August 2026, from store opening until 10.00 pm Western Indonesia Time.
