Indonesia gets German aid

BONN (AFP): Germany's overseas development minister, Carl-
Dieter Spranger said Friday that 10 million German marks (US$5.5
million) had been set aside to help Indonesia fight disastrous
forest fires.

Smog from the fires has spread across large parts of Southeast
Asia and was being blamed for an airplane crash Friday that
killed all 234 people on board as the craft came into land at the
Indonesian island of Sumatra.
