Indonesia Game Rating Suspended, Komdigi Investigates IGRS

The process of assessing the Indonesia Game Rating System (IGRS) has been decided to be postponed. This is due to problematic implementation of the platform, such as inaccurate ratings and suspected leaks.

“While waiting for all investigation and evaluation processes to be completed, we have decided to temporarily suspend the overall IGRS rating process,” said Director of Digital Ecosystem Development, Sonny Hendra Sudaryana, during a press conference in Jakarta on Friday (17/4/2026).

No details were provided on how long the postponement will last. Sonny only stated that it is temporary.

He explained that the investigation steps are being taken to ensure the IGRS system. Thus, the platform can be confirmed to run strongly and more credibly.

“And most importantly, it can be trusted by industry players,” he revealed.

The investigation is also being conducted following suspicions of a leak in IGRS that caused several clips to be released prematurely. He explained that the investigation is being carried out internally and externally, including from organisations and human resources.

It is hoped that the investigation can be comprehensive. He also promised that the process will run transparently.

“Nothing is being hidden,” he stated.

He said that his side has formed a special team for the investigation since the first incident occurred. The team is working to trace all aspects, from the system, processes, and governance, to make it very objective and comprehensive.

“During this process, we have also received a lot of input from association friends and the industry. Like this morning and we started last week on the 8th. And like this morning, every day we discuss and identify this matter,” said Sonny.

Sonny also assured the public that they can still play games without the existence of the system. “You can still play, so it needs to be highlighted that no games are being blocked. From the beginning, nothing has been blocked, because the blocking mechanism is different,” he clarified.
