Indonesia-France Business Council Launched with Rp61 Trillion in Investments

President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to France has yielded four commercial agreements worth $3.5 billion (approximately Rp61.25 trillion) as part of efforts to strengthen economic and investment ties between the two nations. The Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom) stated in Jakarta on Saturday that the agreements were reached during the launch of the France-Indonesia High Level Business Council on May 28, 2026. Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Roeslani, said the forum serves as a strategic platform to strengthen cooperation between Indonesian and French businesses. ‘This forum is not only a platform for business dialogue but also a driver for promoting investment, trade, and strategic cooperation that delivers tangible benefits to both countries,’ Roeslani said. The high-level business council launch was witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron. The forum brought together 30 leading business and industry executives from Indonesia and France, with a combined market capitalisation of $1.3 trillion. The council is co-chaired by MEDEF International’s France-Indonesia Business Council Chair and Danone CEO Antoine de Saint-Affrique, alongside KADIN Indonesia Chairman Anindya Bakrie. According to Roeslani, French business confidence in Indonesia continues to grow as the country is seen as a strategic partner with strong long-term economic growth prospects. ‘French business confidence in Indonesia is rising. The agreements reached demonstrate that Indonesia is viewed as a strategic partner with long-term growth prospects and a more competitive investment climate,’ he said. Looking ahead, the Indonesia-France Business Council aims to triple bilateral trade by 2035 through strengthened cooperation between KADIN Indonesia and MEDEF International. The government hopes the forum will act as a new driver for increased investment, trade, and strategic collaboration across both nations’ priority sectors. President Prabowo Subianto returned to Indonesia on Saturday (30 May) after concluding his working visit to France. Upon landing at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta, he was greeted by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Tandyo Budi Revita.
