Indonesia Forms Special Task Force to Remove Economic Bottlenecks
Jakarta. The Indonesian government has established a special task force to address long-standing economic obstacles that have disrupted priority programs, investment realization, and industrial activity, Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto said on Tuesday.
The task force is aimed at accelerating the implementation of government policies and ensuring they deliver a direct impact on economic growth.
According to Airlangga, the body will not only coordinate priority programs but also ensure policy execution is integrated across ministries and state institutions. Through a collaborative approach, the government expects to resolve many of the barriers that have slowed policy delivery.
“In addition, the task force will monitor and evaluate policy implementation, provide breakthroughs, and carry out other assignments from the president,” Airlangga said during the Investor Daily Roundtable at Hotel Mulia.
The task force was formed by President Prabowo Subianto and is jointly led by Airlangga and State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.
Its deputy chairpersons include Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani, and National Development Planning Minister Rachmat Pambudy.
Amid mounting external pressures, including geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, the task force is also expected to respond quickly to disruptions affecting the domestic economy, including rising energy prices linked to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
“Our dependence on fuel shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz is only around 20%. Indonesia imports from Africa, the Americas, and other sources, so the impact on fuel supply can be relatively well managed,” Airlangga said.
