Indonesia First Market for BYD M6 DM

JAKARTA – The BYD M6 DM is not merely a new addition to BYD’s electrification lineup. This plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is reportedly designed specifically to meet the needs and characteristics of Indonesian consumers.

Another notable fact is that, as of now, the BYD M6 DM is only sold in Indonesia and not available in any other country, making Indonesia the first and sole market for the model at present.

‘The M6 DM is a vehicle designed specifically to suit the needs and characteristics of the Indonesian people,’ said Luther in Jakarta on Tuesday (26 May 2026).

Consumers can still enjoy electric-powered driving without range anxiety, thanks to the conventional engine backup.

Family use, long-distance mobility needs, and infrastructure conditions are likely factors considered in the development of the M6 DM.

‘Naturally, from a business perspective, we will optimise local production as part of the vehicle supply,’ Luther stated.

He chose to await the official announcement regarding the full operation of BYD’s factory, which is currently in finalisation stages.

‘Yes, for now the M6 DM is only sold in Indonesia,’ he added.
