Indonesia Facilitates Asia's First Quantum AI Data Centre with USD 400 Million Investment
Jakarta — Indonesia is taking a major step to position itself as a digital leader on the Asian stage by facilitating investment in Asia's first quantum artificial intelligence (AI) data centre. The monumental project, valued at USD 400 million or more than Rp6 trillion, is being fully facilitated by the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
Deputy Minister of Investment/Deputy Head of BKPM, Todotua Pasaribu, stated that this strategic investment would establish Indonesia as a cutting-edge computing hub in the region. "This is in line with President Prabowo's directive targeting 8 per cent economic growth towards Golden Indonesia 2045. The digital economy, particularly data centres, is a key pillar for achieving this," said Todotua in Jakarta on Tuesday (15/7/2025).
This initial phase of investment was formalised through the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between Silicon Valley technology firm Worldvuer iByond Limited and Tunas Prima Industrial Estate on Wednesday (9/7/2025).
The advanced data centre will be located at the Tunas Prima green industrial estate in Batam, Riau Islands, which is already equipped with renewable energy infrastructure.
Worldvuer iByond Limited is the developer of the Vovea iByond Operating System, a revolutionary system integrating quantum computing, AI, and big data analytics. The technology offers speed and processing capacity far exceeding conventional data centres. Indonesia will become the first country in Asia to serve as a base for this technology, which was previously developed in Silicon Valley and the Middle East.
"Indonesia has extraordinary potential in this sector, and we are ready to become a key partner in building Asia's digital future," Todotua added.
The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, has demonstrated full commitment to supporting this quality investment. "Through the Job Creation Law and the OSS system, we have simplified regulations. We also provide various fiscal incentives such as tax holidays, super tax deductions for research and human resource development, as well as import duty exemptions for equipment," he explained.
As a follow-up, Worldvuer iByond Limited will submit a formal proposal to obtain incentives. Beyond data centre construction, the company is also exploring collaboration in the energy sector, telecommunications with Telkom Group, and the development of a gold-based microchip supply chain involving the education and mining sectors.
