Indonesia eyes US$2.8 billion windfall from dormant criminal funds
“Next month, there will be approximately Rp49 trillion (of state funds recovered),” Prabowo said at the handover ceremony of the administrative fines and state financial rescue at the Attorney General’s Office, Jakarta.
Prabowo revealed that he has received a report regarding the planned transfer of approximately Rp11 trillion to the state treasury next month.
In addition, authorities have identified approximately Rp39 trillion in funds allegedly originating from corruptors or criminal activities that have remained unmanaged for years.
These funds are in accounts with unclear ownership and have been announced for a year, but no one has collected or managed them, he explained.
He emphasized that the recovered funds would be used to improve public facilities and deliver greater benefits to the people.
During the ceremony, President Prabowo also witnessed the handover of Rp10.27 trillion (US$586.9 million) in administrative fines and recovered state funds from Attorney General S.T. Burhanuddin to Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
In addition to the administrative fines, Attorney General Burhanuddin — who also serves as the first deputy chair of the Forest Area Enforcement (PKH) Task Force steering committee — handed over 2,373,171.75 hectares of reclaimed national park land to Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni.
He also transferred the seventh phase of repossessed oil palm plantation land under the PKH Task Force program, covering the same area, to the Finance Ministry.
