Speaking at the opening of the 2026 Specialty Indonesia Exhibition and Business Matching event in Jakarta, Faisol said cocoa, tea, coffee, horticulture, dairy, cigars, and locally based fermented products had strong potential for development.

The global artisan food and beverage market was estimated at US$332 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach US$627.3 billion by 2032, with a global compound annual growth rate of 9.5 percent.

The growth is driven by consumers’ increasing preference for premium quality, authentic flavors, a strong sense of origin, and sustainable production, Faisol said.

“This condition presents a major opportunity for Indonesian artisan products to strengthen the domestic market while increasing their competitiveness in international markets,” he said.

Indonesia is the world’s fourth-largest producer of processed cocoa products and seventh-largest producer of cocoa beans, according to Faisol.

Indonesia is also the world’s fourth-largest coffee producer. Exports of processed coffee reached US$692 million in 2025, up 4.36 percent from the previous year.

The global tea extract market grew from US$3.6 million in 2019 to US$5.6 million in 2025, while the green tea supplement market was estimated at US$909.9 million in 2025 and is projected to reach US$1.33 billion by 2033.

Indonesia also has significant potential in horticulture, supported by national fruit and vegetable production. Horticultural exports reached US$544.8 million in 2025, with canned pineapple among the main contributors.

The dairy processing industry also has room to expand, particularly through value-added products such as cheese and gelato, which are increasingly popular alongside the growth of the culinary, hotel, restaurant, and cafe industries.

Faisol said the tobacco products industry remained a strategic manufacturing sector based on local resources. Continued growth in tobacco product exports has made Indonesia the world’s sixth-largest exporter of tobacco products.

He also highlighted the potential of locally based fermented products, which he said still needed to be developed into a national industrial ecosystem.

According to Fortune Business Insights, the global fermented food market reached US$788.33 million in 2025 and is projected to grow to US$1.24 billion by 2034.

“Therefore, locally based fermented products have the potential to be developed into an industrial subsector capable of creating added value and producing competitive products,” Faisol said.
